French AMX Leclerc tank engine has an interesting turbocharger that can actually work while the engine isn’t even running. It’s basically a gas turbine that uses the diesel engine as a combustion chamber or works as a stand alone APU. The third option is to use its own combustion chamber while also acting as a turbocharger. This enables plenty of boost while the diesel engine is idling.
If you were wondering how much boost is it able to push out, the answer is 7.5 bar.
